Para os mais desavisados, não, essa banda não é uma banda obscura dos anos 60 que foi re-descoberta agora. Na realidade é uma banda de agora que utiliza meios retrogrados para compor e produzir a sua música.

Com guitarras com a sonoridade sessentista e aplificadores vintage, o Black Lips reinventam o som que define a cena underground dessa década. Comparações com a primeira fase dos Rolling Stones, Kinks, Troggs são bem evidentes no som da banda.

"Hippie, Hippie, Hoorah" pode ser considerado "o hit" do disco, mas o disco peca pela falta de consistência. Let it Bloom definitivamente não é para qualquer um, mas os viciados em música e entusiastas pela sonoridade punk poderão surpreender-se positivamente com esse novo album do Black Lips.

Verão quase aí, chega a hora de deixar o jeans velho um pouco de lado e procurar algo mais leve e arejado. Essa metáfora também pode ser aplicada ao som que a gente ouve. Que tal deixar um pouquinho de lado o Rock e se arriscar em outros estilos? Um pouco de jazz, um pouco de dub, um pouco de rap... um pouco de Madlib, quem sabe?

Madlib, ou Mind Altering Demented Lessons In Beats é talvez o Produtor/DJ mais workaholic da história. Basta ver um resumo da sua discografia, fora EP´s, parcerías, produções para artistas alheios, temos um cara que realmente gosta de um estúdio.

E o cara não tem medo de experimentar. Apesar de ser nativo do hip-hop, flerta abertamente com jazz contemporâneo, ritmos indianos, dub jamaicano e oque mais ele achar que cabe no seu vasto handcap.

Madlib talvez seja um dos poucos artistas, ao exemplo de Dj Shadow, Dj Krush e Jel, que agrada até mesmo aos que possuem aversão a som de mano. Vale a tentativa.
